Nobel Prize 2024 in Physics - Each and Every detail
The Nobel Prize 2024 in Physics goes to - John J. Hopfield and Geoffrey E. Hinton
John J. Hopfield -
He is an American Physicist born on 15 july, 1933. He is well known for his studies in Artificial intelligence (AI) in the Neural network.
Geoffrey E. Hinton -
He is a British-Canadian Scientist born on 6 December 1947. He is famous for his work in artificial neural network and his title "Godfather of AI".
Prize Motivation - "For foundational discoveries and inventions that enable Machine Learning with Artificial Neural Networks"
Machine Learning - It is a type of artificial intelligence in which systems can learn and improve by themselves. It does not need external programming. It can learn with experience as we see in human beings. It can be done with the help of an artificial neural network.
Artificial neural network - Our brain works with the combination of million cells and neurons and information or memory stored in the brain in the form of connection between neurons. Artificial neural networks are based on the working of the natural brain. In this network, it is tried to install such neural systems or connections in machines so that it can resolve problems by itself.
The artificial neural networks are made with the help of nodes. When there is learning between two nodes they becomes strong and when there is no any learning then they become weaker and this whole system run in the form of layers. when there are more than three layers built then this will be known as Deep learning or Deep neural network. when these systems are installed in an AI then AI is capable of machine learning.
Applications of Machine learning -
- It can be used in the medical field to treat diseases, read body structure etc.
- To analyze data in financial field.
- It can be used in weather forecasting.
- In the field of electronics like self-driving cars, smart electronic gadgets.
